Officer positions listed in Sigma Tau Chi Alumni Association bylaws

 

Article V: Officers

 

SECTION 1: Executive Board

  1. The officers of the association shall be president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and any such officer as may be determined from time-to-time by the Association. Those officers shall comprise the Executive Board of the association.

  2.  The executive board shall have the responsibility of General supervision and overall care of the association Affairs between meetings.

 

SECTION 2: Elections and term of office

 

  1. Officers shall be elected biannually by the membership for a term of two years at the annual meetings not to exceed two consecutive terms. The past president shall act as a consultant to the newly elected president for a period of one year and for that year be a member of the executive board.

  2. Any candidate for election to the executive board must be a member in good standing at the time of the election.

  3.  Each officer shall hold the office to which he is elected from the conclusion of the annual meeting or until a successor shall have been duly elected and shall be qualified subject to the provisions of these bylaws with respect to the removal of officers.

 

SECTION 3: Duties and Qualifications 

 

A.  President

1. Duties :

  1. The President shall preside at all meetings of the association and at all meetings of the executive board.

  2.  The President shall be an ex-officio member of all standing committees and shall, in general, supervise and manage all the business and Affairs of the association.

  3.  The President shall appoint all committees both standing and special as needed for the function and practices of this Association

  4. The President shall call and preside over all meetings of the association.

  5.  the President shall perform all duties usually incident to the office of president.

 

B. Vice-president

1. Duties :

  1. The vice president shall in an absence or disability of the president perform the duties in the exercise of the powers of the president.

  2.  The vice president shall have such powers to perform such duties as may be delegated thereunto by the president or prescribed by the executive board.

 

C. Secretary

1. Duties :

  1. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings of the board of directors, and the minutes of all meetings of committees in books provided for that purpose.

  2. The Secretary shall give notice of all meetings of the members and directors, and all other notice is required by law or by these bylaws, and in case of the secretaries absence refusal to do so, any such notice may be given by a person there on 2 directed by the President or by the directors upon whose requisition the meeting is called.

  3.  The Secretary shall have the custody of the Seal of the association and a fix the same to all instruments requiring it when authorized by the directors or the president, and attest to the same.

  4. The Secretary shall file all written requests that notices be mailed to the members and an address other than that which appears on the record of members.

  5.  The Secretary shall, in general, perform all the duties incident to the office of Secretary.

 

D. Alumni Treasurer

  1. Duties

  1. The Treasurer shall have custody of all funds, Securities, evidence of indebtedness and other valuable documents of the association, when necessary or proper.

  2.  The Treasurer shall endorse on behalf of the association for collection checks, notes and other obligations of the association and shall deposit the same to the credit of the association in such bank or Banks or depository as the executive board may designate.

  3. The Treasurer shall receive and give receipts for the money paid in, on account of the association and shall pay out the funds on hand all just debts of the association of whatever nature upon maturity of the same.

  4.  The Treasurer shall enter in the books of the association all monies received and paid out on account of the association, and whenever required by the president or executive board or financial committee, shall render a statement of account.

  5.  The Treasurer shall keep or cause to be kept such other books as well as show a true record of the expenses, losses, Gaines, assets and liabilities of the association.

  6.  The Treasurer shall perform all other duties and acts incident to the office of treasurer.

  7. The Treasurer shall give the association security for the faithful performance of their duties and each sum and with such Surety as the board of directors may require.

  8.  The Treasurer shall provide all records necessary for an annual audit of the finances.

 

E. House Treasurer

  1. Duties

    1. The House Treasurer shall print and collect signed leases from students living within the fraternity house.

    2. The House Treasurer shall deposit funds collected to the credit of the association in such bank or banks or depository as the executive board may designate.

    3. The House Treasurer shall receive and give receipts for the money paid in on account of the House and shall pay out the funds on hand all just debts of the House of whatever nature upon maturity of the same.

    4. The House Treasurer shall enter in the books of the association all monies received and paid out on account of the House, and whenever required by the president or executive board or financial committee, shall render a statement of account.

    5. The House Treasurer shall give the association security for the faithful performance of their duties and each sum and with such Surety as the board of directors may require.

    6. The House Treasurer shall provide all records necessary for an annual audit of the finances.

    7. The House Treasurer shall enter into annual contracts wherever a contract of services are required for weekly or monthly services.
